The countdown for CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival is over. It's day two of nonstop music performances, panels, and film screenings. Not such a bad fate, right? If you're not familiar with CMJ, here's what you need to know: College Music Journal fills more than 80 of NYC's greatest venues, nightclubs, and theaters for the span of a workweek, fusing together the work of music industry folk, college radio tastemakers, bloggers, musicians, and filmmakers for over 120,000 fans. Yep, I'd say this cultural invasion is an ideal opportunity to discover new music, art, and film in record time.
Since its kickoff yesterday, CMJ has launched a citywide takeover to present your ears and eyes with the latest artists you should get familiar with right now. With more than 1,300 gigs on deck, I've been diligently tracking the concert lineup for your happy ears.
