Last week, I finally crossed off ABC Kitchen's (35 E. 18th St., 212-475-5829) brunch from my NYC dining bucket list, and boy was it worth the wait. Editor-in-Chief Adam Rapoport of Bon Appetit hosted a Belvedere Bloody Mary brunch at Jean-Georges's Flatiron restaurant, and I definitely wasn't the only one excited to sample the vodka purveyor's Bloody Mary concoctions and chow down on the local, organic fare. New York's food scene royalty was well represented, including Fatty 'Cue's Zak Pelaccio, Resto owner Christian Pappanicholas and chef Bobby Hellen, Frankies Spuntino's chefs Frank Falcinelli and Frank Castronovo, The Lion's John DeLucie, and celebrity chef Amanda Freitag, to name a few.
As per usual, ABC Kitchen's chef Dan Kluger did not disappoint. Three courses of the restaurant's most savory and sweet dishes, both brunch and not-so-brunch-y, were served up in a simple and fresh presentation for all to enjoy. To complement each flavorful course, Belvedere's head of spirit creation and mixology Claire Smith designed a handful of innovative Bloody Marys that definitely kept the crowd abuzz. From crab toast and a Belvedere cucumber fix to a spinach and goat cheese pizza and a Belvedere black pepper Collins, this brunch is a must try, and now that I have, I hope it's oft-repeated.
