October officially marks 31 days of breast cancer awareness. To support the ongoing research to find a cure for breast cancer, the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District is holding its 12th annual week-long "avenue-wide" Madison Avenue Pink Ribbon project today through Sunday, Oct. 23. Put your stylishly superb shopping skills and philanthropic prowess to good use and, of course, to a cause worthier than its outwardly retail-driven appearance.
More than 25 high-profile retailers including Jimmy Choo, Barbour, La Perla, Missoni, and Max Mara are participating in the Pink Ribbon project. Each brand has promised to donate a percentage of the total purchase amount on select "pink" items sold at its Madison Avenue address locations. While I'm all for pink proceeds on a Hervé Léger bandage dress, I've rounded up six products from retailers that are hard to find or, better yet, can't be found at all outside of NYC. That way, once the plastic is swiped, you've given to a great cause and scored something supremely unique to the city in which you dwell.
