We warned you of Drybar's (4 W. 16th St., 212-561-5392) imminent arrival, but now it's official. Our calendars are marked and our date nights have been penciled in because next Friday, Sept. 16, the go-to blowout spot for Angelenos will become a bicoastal hair weapon to be reckoned with. With a playful menu of $40 blowout styles aptly named after cocktails, it's no wonder patrons become devoted "barflies" after just one visit. We chatted with founder Alli Webb yesterday, and aside from our obvious excitement at next week's opening, here are five reasons why you should make your appointment ASAP.

  1. If there's anything New Yorkers need after a long day of work, it's a hair happy hour. Get your cocktail-themed blowout any way you'd like it — shaken, stirred, sleek, straight, glamorous waves, big volume, and beachy. While the "Manhattan" blowout may be a perennial favorite in this town, Webb says, "I've noticed lots of New Yorkers going for tons of volume. Big waves á la 'Southern Comfort.'"
  2. The Flatiron location is Drybar's largest yet! With 14 chairs and a VIP room for private parties, that's a whole lot of blowout coverage and "bar tabs" to tend to. Did we mention a second NYC location is on its way to the Le Parker Meridien Hotel? You better believe it.
  3. New York's stylist team are a bunch of rock stars. Maybe not literally, but definitely figuratively. Webb was in NYC last week to meet with, train, and see Drybar's blowout bartenders through a rigorous hair styling boot camp, if you will. You know your hair is in good hands.
  4. Consistency is key. The Drybar blowout you loved in West Hollywood, Dallas, or San Francisco will be the one you love when you walk out of the West 16th Street location. Come expecting greatness and you won't be disappointed.
  5. You can already book your appointment online. What are you waiting for?
