Momofuku's David Chang Designs Interactive Ramen App For iPad Users

As if David Chang's lucrative noodle bar, dessert spots, exclusively elusive restaurants, and cookbook chain weren't enough? Next on the Momofuku (171 First Ave., 212-777-7773) menu: an interactive quarterly iPad application and print journal called Lucky Peach, set to be released in late April. Each "issue" will have a set theme and episode — for its debut, Chang will hone in on one of his most sought-after dishes, ramen. The app will operate in a way that simulates falling down a "ramen rabbit hole." For every ingredient that you hover over, you'll be prompted with more recipes, ideas, multimedia options, and, of course, relevant written articles. To help carry out this latest project, Chang has partnered with McSweeney's and Zero Point Zero Production. If you own an iPad and have a soft spot for anything to do with Momofuku, will this be a priority download come April? Or despite access to recipes, do you err on the side of "the real thing is always better"? I can't promise I won't spring for Lucky Peach (because who am I kidding?) but all this staring at food will most definitely prompt me to walk straight over to First Avenue and order a bowl. Maybe that's been Chang's plan all along.
