What was your favorite Shel Silverstein poem as a child? I think we all had one. Mine was a tie between "Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me Too" and "Sick," but that's just the icing on the cake. Silverstein's anthology of quirky (read: wacky tongue-twister) poetry is timeless, so it's with excitement and a real mix of childhood nostalgia and wonderment that I let you in on this Saturday's special Central Park SummerStage presentation, er, Shelebration.

The tribute to Shel Silverstein, curated by acclaimed producer Hal Willner, will begin at 7 p.m. at Rumsey Playfield. The evening will feature Silverstein's songs, poetry, and excerpts from his forthcoming poetry collection Everything on It. Performers include Martha Wainwright, Lou Reed, Shilpa Ray, Annabella Sciorra, Darrell Hammond, and more. This antithesis of a poetry slam promises to be both a whimsical throwback and a sweet homage to the man who helped us love alliteration.
