What to Do Before the Apocalypse in NYC
3 Ways to Welcome the Weekend Apocalpyse
Tomorrow the world as we know it may end. At least that's what Harold Camping's prophecy predicts. May 21 marks "the rapture," the end of our days, and if I'm to buy into this theory, I can tell you one thing — I'm going to live it up. It's now or never to cross things off my bucket list, even if I'm limited to my city surroundings. Whether judgment day comes or not (let's hope for the latter), don't you want to say you've sheared a sheep at the Brooklyn Zoo or handcrafted postapocalyptic puppets before the four horseman actually gallop into town? Live this weekend like it's your last!

- Splurge on Awesome Shoes That You May Never Wear! Flats, wedges, ankle booties, platform sandals, everything under the Sigerson Morrison sun will be liquidated at today's Sigerson Morrison "crazy sale." The three-day event, held at Steven Sclaroff (44 White St., 212-691-7814), comes with a great twinge of sadness as this is the shoe brand's untimely goodbye. Prices will start at $25 and generally speaking, merchandise will be marked down by 75 percent. Yes, you're reading this correctly and no, the world hasn't ended yet. Get yourself to White Street early, doors open at 1 p.m. The sale will continue through Sunday, May 22; Friday and Saturday, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Make Your Own Shearling Sweater Be a part of the fleece fest at Prospect Park Zoo's Lefferts Historic House (Children's Corner, 718-789-2822) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow. Watch the Winter fleece be shorn from the zoo's resident sheep, and then let the fun begin. Learn to wash, card, spin, and weave the freshly shorn fleece into your very own cloth. If you become a pro after only a few tries, I'd suggest whipping up a fleece sweater for yourself! You'll want to stay warm if hell freezes over.
- Handcraft a Postapocalyptic Puppet There's no time like the present to learn how to make hand puppets, am I right? The Observatory Room (543 Union St., 718-243-1572) is hosting an eco-DIY postworld ending puppet-making workshop with artist Ethan Gould on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. If you've somehow survived the catastrophe of Saturday's implosion, you're going to want to keep it light, simple, and quite frankly, silly. Use the rubble and remnants around you to create puppet masterpieces.
