In true NYC form, there's no shortage of glitz, glamour, whimsy, and the purely fantastic inside these magical life-sized dioramas. From a bright and beautiful marine-inspired dream at Bergdorf Goodman to a very Gaga Christmas underway at Barneys, the city's annual holiday window creations are breathtaking, creative, and beyond decadent. The Lower East Side restaurant is spacious and warm, smells like grandma's kitchen (that is, if your grandma happens to prepare meaty pastas all day long), and meets high ragu expectations. Cynthia Rowley, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alice + Olivia, DKNY, and more are offering steep markdowns on their must-have goodies. But best of all, NYC's version of Black Friday also includes a plethora of quirk and charm. From Warby Parker's holiday spectacle bazaar to a midnight dance party at Ann Taylor (believe it), there's a lot of deals, steals, and festivities to know about . . . right now.

Warby Parker: The New York-based glasses purveyor (with a soul) will hold its holiday spectacle bazaar in an empty SoHo garage space on 45 Grand Street. What can you expect from this Warby Parker pop-up? Yurts featuring the brand's entire collection, a photo booth, a letterpress station, and a lounge. In case you don't know the Warby deal: buy a pair of glasses for $95, and the company will give a pair to a person in need. The fair will also offer Christmas trees . . . for those of you on the Black Friday hunt for one.
Fred Perry: The British brand's Williamsburg overstock store (306 Grand St., 347-689-2096) is having a blowout surplus sale, offering up to 70 percent off tees, jackets, and other merchandise, including one-off pieces and rare collectibles. The sale kicks off tomorrow and continues through Sunday.
Kate Spade: The preppy label (454 Broome St., 212-274-1991; 135 Fifth Ave., 212-358-0420) has wrapped city cabs in its holiday ad campaign and made it possible for you to ride for free if you catch one of the Spade-branded taxis outside the Broome Street flagship or the Fifth Avenue location. The complimentary cab service - a totally necessary luxury given Black Friday's notorious chaos - is available Friday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

10 Reasons I'm Thankful to Live in NYC

On a regular basis, I find myself having those uniquely personal moments - on the subway, on my way home, in the midst of grabbing drinks at my favorite neighborhood bar, you get the idea - where I think to myself, "I love New York City." That feeling of home euphoria is a pretty darn important reminder, especially in those other moments where you can't find a cab, the train is permanently delayed, and the Trader Joe's line threatens to choke you as you grocery shop, of just how amazingly frenetic and fantastic this city is. And I'm more than a little thankful to live here, for better or for worse.

To continue on this path of gratitude, I want to share my (abbreviated list of) reasons why I thank my lucky stars I get to work hard and play hard in NYC, even when I can't actually see the stars in the Manhattan sky. Hope this gratitude fest finds you happy, healthy, warm - and most of all, enjoying a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends.
